Install widget

Objective: view the ELChat interface on your website. ** Estimated time:** 5 to 15 minutes depending on your platform. Required: an ELChat site created and permission to modify the website.

The role of widget

The widget allows a visitor to ask a question, resume a conversation, consult content, complete a form or use a call to action.

It uses the configuration and knowledge of the site to which it is attached.

Prepare the widget in ELChat

1. Open the relevant site.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Activate the widget.
4. Enable IA responses if you want ELChat to respond to visitors.
5. Check the wizard’s name, language, welcome message and backup message.
6. Customize the button and colors if necessary.

You can also require authentication of visitors. Enable this setting only if your route should be reserved for identified users.

Add installation code

1. In the settings, find the facility extract generated for the site.
2. Copy the full extract without changing its identifier.
3. Add it to your site with the mechanism provided by your platform: custom code, tag manager or intervention of the person administering the site.
4. Publish site changes.

Keep the extract from the right site

Each facility must remain linked to the corresponding ELChat site. Do not reuse the extract from another project.

Check installation

1. Use the test or detection function proposed in the ELChat settings.
2. Open the public version of your site in a new window.
3. Check that the button appears at the chosen position.
4. Open the widget.
5. Send a simple question already covered by your knowledge.

Installation is successful when the conversation opens and a response is received.

Example of implementation

For a showcase site published with a CMS, the configuration can be:

1. select the siteMaison Atlas — Site publicin ELChat;
2. enable widget and IA responses;
3. use the welcome messageBonjour ! Que souhaitez-vous découvrir ? ;
4. copy the extract generated for this site in the CMS global code box;
5. Publish and then test a question already present in your knowledge.

The name of the site is important before the copy: the identifier contained in the extract links the conversations to the correct hold and perimeter. The welcome message presents the role of the widget, while the test of a known question checks both installation and access to knowledge.

If the button does not appear

Check first:

• the widget is enabled in ELChat;
• the site modifications have been published;
• the copied extract is complete;
• you are viewing the correct version of the site;
• the cache of your platform does not yet serve an old page.

If the installation is entrusted to another person, only transmit the extract provided for that purpose. No password or connector credential is required.
