Import Sitemap

Objective: use a structured list of URLs to guide exploration. Prerequisite: an XML sitemap file corresponding to the site.

The tab interface Knowledge accepts a file with extension.xml. The maximum observed size is 2 MB.

  1. Open Knowledge.
  2. Choose the source Website.
  3. Enable the option to use a sitemap.
  4. Check the pages to include and exclude.
  5. Drop or select the XML file.
  6. Start the treatment.
  • use the sitemap of the same domain as the ELChat site;
  • remove private or obsolete pages;
  • check that URLs are accessible;
  • avoid duplicates;
  • keep the necessary exclusions in ELChat.
  1. Open Pages.
  2. Find the pages from the sitemap.
  3. Check their condition and the end of their treatment.
  4. Check that the exclusions have been met.
  5. Test a question in one of the pages.

Check successively:

  • extension.xml ;
  • file size;
  • URLs domain;
  • accessibility of pages;
  • exclusion rules;
  • the error message displayed in the interface.

Do not just rename another type of file as.xml: its content must really follow the format of a sitemap.

Example: guide the exploration of a showcase site

Forhttps://maison-atlas.example, import the XML Sitemap from the same domain and keep only useful pages:/services/, /tarifs/and/faq/. Exclude/connexion/, /recherche/and/mentions-anciennes/in the rules of the site.

The Sitemap provides the structured list of URLs; exclusions remove private or obsolete pages that could degrade responses. After processing, verify in Pages that one page of each entry is present and test a question whose answer is in one of them.
