Create your first site
Objective: Create the perimeter within which ELChat will organize knowledge, interactions, connectors and results. ** Estimated time:** 4 minutes. Required: an account verified and the address of the site to be added.
Why ELChat uses sites or projects
Section titled “Why ELChat uses sites or projects”An account can manage multiple sites. Each site maintains its own configuration, knowledge, conversations, connectors, workflows, agents and indicators.
For example, a company can separate its institutional site, shop and documentation portal.
Step 1 — Identify the site
Section titled “Step 1 — Identify the site”- From the dashboard, click on the creation action of a site.
- Give the site a clear name.
- Choose its type from the list.
- Enter its URL.
- Take the next step.
The type helps characterize the project. It does not replace the configuration of your knowledge and actions.
Step 2 — Preparing for Exploration
Section titled “Step 2 — Preparing for Exploration”You can complete three settings:
- Pages to include: URLs that you want to treat as a priority;
- Sitemap: file describing the pages of your site;
- Pages to be excluded: URLs that must not feed knowledge.
Enter a URL per line in the inclusion or exclusion lists.
Finalize creation
Section titled “Finalize creation”- Read the name, type and URL.
- Check that exclusions do not block important pages.
- Validate the creation.
If you have attached a sitemap, ELChat transmits it to the import route after the creation of the site.
Example configuration
Section titled “Example configuration”For a shop located in France, you can enter :
| Field | Example value | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Maison Atlas — Boutique France |
Distinguished the shop of the institutional site and the internal portal. |
| Type | E-commerce |
Gives the team a benchmark, even if the knowledge and actions remain to be set separately. |
| URL | https://maison-atlas.example |
Defines the field of reference to be explored. |
| Pages included | /produits/and/guides/ |
Focus the first exploration on content useful to visitors. |
| Pages excluded | /panier/, /mon-compte/and/recherche/ |
Avoid indexing private, variable or irrelevant pages. |
The site is the perimeter of all the following steps: if the shop and institutional site need to have distinct knowledge, connectors or indicators, create two sites. After validation, open the site and check that its name and URL match the project well before adding data.
Check Result
Section titled “Check Result”The site must appear in the dashboard list. Open it and check:
- his name;
- his address;
- its condition;
- access to tabs Overview, Knowledge, Resources and Parameters.
The creation of the site is not enough to make its content usable. Continue with Configure First Knowledge.
Good practices
Section titled “Good practices”- create a separate site when knowledge, users or processes must remain separate;
- use a name comprehensible to the entire team;
- provide the canonical address of the site, not an isolated page;
- Set exclusions before first exploration if the site contains many irrelevant pages.
