Install widget on a site

Estimated time: 5 to 15 minutes depending on the site platform.

Copy the extract

1. Open the site in ELChat.
2. Go to Parameters.
3. Open the section containing the implementation script.
4. Copy the full extract.

LExtract contains the identification necessary to link the widget to the right site. Do not change it.

Publish on your website

Add the extract with the mechanism of your platform: custom code zone, tag manager or site administrator’s intervention.

Then publish the new version of the site.

Use the extract of the right project

If your account contains several sites, check the name and URL displayed before copying the code.

##Test the connection

1. Return to ELChat. 2 settings. Click Test Connection.
2. Read the result: connected, not detected or error.
3. Open the public website and check the button.

If the script is not detected

• confirm that the changes have been published;
• check that the extract is complete;
• check that you are testing the correct URL;
• update the site cache;
• check that the extract was not only added to a preview page.

Example: publication on a showcase site

If the https://maison-atlas.example website is managed by a CMS:

1. select this site in ELChat and check its URL;
2. Copy the extract displayed in Parameters;
3. add it to the global code box loaded on all pages;
4. publish the website;
5. click Test Connection, then open a public page.

The global area allows the visitor to open the widget from each page. Checking the name and URL before copying avoids associating chats from the showcase site with another tenant or project.
