Connect Odoo

What is this connection for?

Odoo allows ELChat to consult and manage several activities from a single connection: CRM, sales, stock, accounting, support, appointment, knowledge, projects and manufacturing.

Prerequisites Odoo

L is reserved for the Odoo Custom package for Odoo Online; it is not available in One App Free and Standard packages. A self-hosted facility may have its own rules.

The ELChat connector currently uses the historical JSON-RPC API at /jsonrpc. Odoo 19 announces its future replacement by JSON-2. The withdrawal date varies in the updated official documentation: plan a migration of the connector before the actual removal.

Step 1 — Create the Odoo

1 API key. Connect with the user dedicated to ELChat. 2. Open the user menu and then Preferences or My profile. 3. Open the ** Account Security tab**. 4. Click New API key. 5. Enter a clear description, for example ELChat — site principal. 6. Choose the proposed duration adapted to your policy. 7. Click Generate the key and copy it immediately.

The key is displayed only once. The procedure and package restrictions are detailed in the Odoo 19 documentation of the External RPCA.

Find the name of the database

On a multi-base installation, use the exact name of the database provided by your Odoo administrator. It can also appear in the base management selector or URL depending on the deployment.

Information to be completed: ELChat cannot automatically deduct the basic name before the connection. Ask the Odoo administrator if your interface does not display it.

Step 2 — Connect Odoo to ELChat

1. Open Dashboard > your site > AI Actions > Connectors.
2. On the Odoo map, click Connect.
3. Inform the full URL of the instance.
4. Provide the exact name of the base.
5. Inform email of the integration user.
6. Paste the API key.
7. Validate.

Step 3 — Check the connection

Check the status Connected, then ask for a simple reading of an installed module, for example search for a product or list project tasks. ELChat caches module detection for six hours: after installing a new module, its capacity may not appear immediately.

Reconnect or disconnect

Create a new key in Odoo, reconnect ELChat and test a playback before revoking the old one. To disconnect, click Disable, then delete the key in Preferences > Account security.

Frequent problems

###No Odoo tools appear

ELChat could not detect installed modules. Check the URL, database, key, API package and the right to read the modules. Also wait for the expiration of the six-hour cache after installation.

Access denied on a model

The integration user does not have the necessary group or access rule. Correct his rights in Odoo without giving him a managing director role if not required.

Expired key

Recent versions of Odoo can impose a duration on keys. Generate a new key, reconnect ELChat, test, and then revoke the old one.

Connect after upgrade Odoo

If /jsonrpc is no longer available, the current version of the connector must be migrated to JSON-2 API before it can work.

Security and Limits

An Odoo API key has the same business rights as its user. Use a dedicated account, limit its groups, activate a reasonable duration and schedule its rotation. The validations, registration rules and custom modules can change the result of an action.

Example: Odoo

In the production base maison-atlas-production, use a dedicated user integration@exemple.com with only the necessary modules, and then provide information:

The base selects the environment and the user carries the business rights. First ask for a reading of a product or task; only test a creation after comparing the result with Odoo and confirming the permissions of the dedicated account.
